NERTA is the computer application that manages the access to the Galician University System (SUG), specifically, the university entrance exams (PAU, over 25 years old and over 45 years old) and the admission process to the official university degree courses.

Once they have finished the baccalaureate, in order to gain access to a university degree, students must pass the Baccalaureate Evaluation for University Entrance (PAU) organised by the Ciug.
Those who need to improve their qualifications must also take the voluntary part of this test.

- Structure of the test
Structure of the test
The ABAU is structured in two parts:
Compulsory part:
It is made up of the four general subjects of the block of core subjects (Galician Language and Literature II, Spanish Language and Literature II, History of Spain II and First Foreign Language II) and the core subject of the corresponding modality (Fundamentals of Art II, Mathematics II, Mathematics applied to Social Sciences II or Latin II).
Voluntary part:
Baccalaureate students who wish to improve their admission qualification may sit a maximum of four subjects that they will choose from the rest of the subjects they did not sit in the compulsory part, weighted according to the weighting tables published by the CIUG for each degree.
Students who gain access through a Higher Level of Vocational Training may also sit the voluntary part in order to increase their admission mark.
The exam for each subject will last 90 minutes, with a 30-minute break between consecutive tests, in accordance with the timetable in Appendix III of the PAU Enrolment Call.

Ordinary call: 4, 5 and 6 June 2024
Extraordinary call: 2, 3 and 4 July 2024
- Revision of the qualifications
Students may request a review of the qualification obtained in one or more examinations within three days of the date of publication of the qualifications. In this review process, changes in qualifications can be either upward or downward.
The deadline for submitting these requests will be three working days from the date of publication of the qualifications (the last day until 14:00 h).
Requests for review will be made through the computer application Nerta, using your access code. Students must keep a copy of their application as a receipt and justification of its presentation.

Over 25s test
People over 25 years of age in the calendar year in which the test is held, who do not have any academic qualifications that allow access to university by other routes, may take this test.
The test is structured in two phases:
General phase
It will comprise four exercises:
1.º Exercice: Commentary on a text or development of a general current affairs topic.
2.º Exercice: Spanish language.
3.º Exercice: Galician language.
4.º Exercice: Foreign language, to choose from: German, French, English, Italian or Portuguese.
Candidates who can prove that they have been living outside Galicia for an uninterrupted period of more than four years will be able to apply for exemption from the Galician language exercise at the time of registration. It will be the Ciug that will communicate the concession or not of the exemption.
Specific phase
The specific phase will be structured in the following five options linked to the five branches of knowledge:

Option E: Engineering and Architecture
The specific phase will consist of two compulsory subjects for each option and one optional subject to be chosen by the student at the time of registration from among the subjects offered for each option.

Candidates must complete the specific phase in the option of their choice; in the event of a tie, the official university degree courses offered by the universities that are linked to each of the options will be given preference for admission purposes.
Each of the exercises of the general and specific phases will have a maximum duration of one and a half hours. There will be a minimum interval of 30 minutes between the end of one exercise and the beginning of the next.
You may use any of the official languages of the autonomous community of Galicia. However, the exercises corresponding to the Castilian language, the Galician language and the foreign language must be carried out in their respective languages.
Over 45 test
The aim of the test is to assess the maturity and suitability of the candidates to successfully pursue university studies, as well as their capacity for reasoning and written expression.
It will comprise three exercises:
1.º Exercice: Commentary on a text or development of a general current affairs topic.
2.º Exercice: Spanish language.
3.º Exercice: Galician language.
Those who pass the test must undergo a personal interview at a place determined by the organising committee. The result of the interview will be a decision of apto or apta as a necessary condition for the subsequent favourable decision of admission of the interested person.
In addition, the student must submit, together with the registration application, a curriculum vitae to be included in the personal interview.
Those who can prove that they have been living outside Galicia for an uninterrupted period of more than the last four years may request, at the time of registration, an exemption from exercising the Galician language. It will be the CIUG that will communicate to the candidates whether or not the exemption is granted.
Each of the exams will have a maximum duration of one and a half hours. There will be a minimum interval of 30 minutes between the end of one exercise and the start of the next.
In order to carry out the exercises, any of the official languages of the Autonomous Community may be used. The exercises corresponding to the Castilian and Galician languages must be carried out in their respective languages.

If you took the university entrance exam (selectividad or PAU) in 2010 or later, you can request a duplicate of the card from CIUG by email at ciug@ciug.gal.

Application procedure
- Go to https://matricula.uvigo.es register at the Universidade de Vigo Virtual Student Secretary's Office.
- Once you have finished registering, and without leaving the application, click on the "Self-payments" section of the secretary's office (menu on the left-hand side - Taxes section) and select the fees for the transfer of records or the certification of the university entrance exam.
- Choose the form of payment (card or cash). In the case of cash, the program will generate a PDF, with several pages, which you will have to print and take to the bank indicated to make the required payment.
- Send to the SIE (in case of taking the test in Vigo) or the Community Services Areas of Ourense (if the test was taken in Ourense) and Pontevedra (if the test was taken in Pontevedra) the required documentation in each case.

Collaborating staff in the university entrance exams
Every year the Ciug requests the Universidade de Vigo to select non-teaching staff to act in the PAU test delegated committees based on the campuses of Vigo, Ourense and Pontevedra.
